The Border - featuring the elite Immigration and Customs Security Squad (ICS) - returns for a second season with storylines reflecting current hot topics.
Nominated for nine 2008 Gemini Awards including Best Dramatic Series, Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role (James McGowan), Best Performance by a Supporting Actor (Jonas Chernick) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Catherine Disher) The Border is a hit.
The series was nominated by the Monte Carlo Television Festival for Best Dramatic TV Series, Best Performance by an Actor for the show's star James McGowan, and Best Performance by an Actress for Sofia Milos.
Sleeper cells and corporate spies, U.S. Army deserters and Kenyan drug traffickers. Africa, China, Russia, Afghanistan, Britain and the United States – people and conflicts from around the world play a role in The Border.
Initially, Homeland Security Agent Bianca LaGarda (Sofia Milos) viewed her Canadian posting as a hardship, punishment for letting her feelings interfere with office politics. But, in Season 2, she puts her career on the line for her Canadian colleagues.
Her integrity is met with retribution. Washington wants her on a shorter leash and recalls her. Will Agent LaGarda return to Canada? Given the fluid nature of politics and the whims of the powerful, who knows?
Two alluring new agents will test the ICS Unit – the aggressive and ambitious American Homeland Security Agent Liz Carver, played by guest star Grace Park and the amoral, engaging British MI6 Agent Charlotte Bates, played by guest star Daisy Beaumont.
Nicholas Campbell also appears as Gray Jackson's father – a man who owes the mob.
The returning ensemble cast includes James McGowan, Sofia Milos, Graham Abbey, Nazneen Contractor, Jonas Chernick, Mark Wilson, Catherine Disher and Jim Codrington.
The Border was created by Emmy Award winner Peter Raymont and his partner the late Lindalee Tracey, an award winning filmmaker and journalist; Janet MacLean, writer of the Murdoch Mystery Movies and Jeremy Hole.
