Season 1
Single Mothers is a South African television drama miniseries written by Michael Lee and Nombusa Nkabinde and produced by Magic Factory which follows a group of women brought together by accident and the mistakes of the men in their lives learn to love and forgive each other and survive as single mothers in contemporary South Africa.
The series originally aired on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel from 5 June to 3 July, 2013. There are five hour-long episodes in the series, which later aired on Mzansi Wethu. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Synopsis
A group of women brought together by accident and the mistakes of the men in their lives learn to love and forgive each other and survive as single mothers in contemporary South Africa.
Produced by Magic Factory, the series was written by Michael Lee and Nombusa Nkabinde and directed by Sunni Faba. Patronella Sello was the executive producer.
Episode 1: Baby Rama Drama
After struggling to conceive and make ends meet for many years, Lindi and Joe's marriage is on the rocks. Their situation is made worse by Madeline, Joe's mother, who they now have to live with, insisting they get a divorce so he can marry a woman who can give him an heir.
Things get even more complicated when Rama turns up pregnant on their doorstep claiming that she's carrying Joe's child.
Episode 2: Rain Drops Keep Falling On Her Head
The family is still reeling from Rama's announcement. All except for Madeline who is ecstatic at the idea of a grandchild. She turns the heat up when she suggests that Joe take Rama as a second wife.
A devastated Lindi starts wondering if her life would not be better if she revealed long held secret.
Episode 3: Who's That Girl?
Gugu, a pretty girl from KwaZulu-Natal, manages to charm Joe into giving her a job at the family's shisa–nyama, making Madeline wonder her hopes of seeing Joe settled with Rama are a pipe dream.
She and Rama continue to plan a wedding regardless but Rama is distracted as a young man from her village tracks her down and demands to speak to her.
Episode 4: What About Joe?
After trying to hit on Gugu, Joe discovers the true reason she came to Joburg. He and Lindi have a huge fight about it and he storms of to the bar where his debts catch up with him.
Soon the women find themselves having to band together to get him out of trouble.
Episode 5: A Mother's Love...
When Joe is confirmed missing, Madeline and Lindi become unlikely partners as they try to find him. The imminent arrival of Rama's child sees her hatching an escape plan.
The winners of the business competition are announced.
