Season 1

Turn It Out is a South African dance reality competition television series produced by Fuel Media in which each week contestants compete through various rounds of differing dance styles in the quest to become the Turn It Out champion and go home with a weekly cash prize.

The series premiered on SABC1 on Thursday 15 September 2011, at 19h00. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 1 aired on SABC1 from 15 September, 2011 to 8 March, 2012, on Thursdays at 19h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 26 episodes in the first season.

Season 1

Turn It Out is an original dance concept that sees five dancers face off in a weekly dance competition. Five rounds per show test contestants' range of capabilities as dancers in street dance, contemporary, classical and more.

Each week contestants compete through five grueling rounds in the quest to become the Turn It Out champion and go home with a weekly cash prize of R5,000. At the end of the season, the top 20 dancers from previous episodes battle it out for a grand prize of R50,000.

Professional and aspiring young dancers are given the opportunity to show off their capabilities as they work together, with choreographers and with themselves to come up with some of the slickest routines on local screens.

On the judging panel are entertainer Chomee and dancers Sibu Radebe and Kitty Phetla. The choreographer is Eric "Versatyl" Prinsloo and the show is hosted by Mac Leshomo.

In the increasingly competitive and popular realm of reality dance television, where the focus is often on Hip Hop dance culture, Turn It Out is the dance show with a difference, challenging the dance status quo, flipping the script and unearthing the freshest talent in the country, no matter what their style.

The show combines elements of reality with the competition aspect to create a modern and relevant dance property rich in the textures of South Africa's urban dance scene.
