Tonight with Trevor Noah is a South African television talk show produced by Urban Brew and hosted by comedian Trevor Noah in the tradition of late night shows such as the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with Conan O'Brien and satirical fare like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
While influenced by these programmes, Tonight with Trevor Noah is wholly original, distinctly South African, and unique due to one thing: its host Trevor Noah.
One of the country's most diverse, intelligent and successful stand up comics, Trevor will drive the show with sketches, interviews and performances.
The talk show is a generic format the world over so while Tonight with Trevor Noah is not planning to reinvent the wheel - it is planning to put some new rims on it.
Segments will be filled with timeless and current sketches relevant and identifiable to the person on the street. Interviews with celebrities we all know will take things in an unexpected direction, revealing true character and anecdotes rather than generic biographies.
The show aims to go big or go home in just 30 minutes with everything from the host in custom-made suits to big names guest starring in little sketches.
With a cast of well known performers, comics and writers supporting Trevor, the show hopes to create a family of characters that viewers become familiar with and follow week in and week out.
Tonight with Trevor Noah aims to raise the bar of the talk show genre and South African television through the comic sensibility of its host.
The series was produced by Urban Brew Studios in association with Ark Angel Productions. Series writers were Salah Sabiti and Tshepo Mogale. Roberto Carletti was a producer and Denys Webb was the director and executive producer.
