Description

Soon Comes Night is a South African television drama series about a former freedom fighter who orchestrates a series of heists in defiance of the law while trying to evade corrupt authorities and a cop with a tragic past.

The thriller is set against the tumultuous landscape of an emerging rainbow nation in the 1990s.

Longing for adrenaline and adoration, Alex Shabane decides to use his skills to liberate his own financial rewards but soon finds himself branded "South Africa's Most Wanted".

The series tells a tale about liberation hero turned heist king, Alex Shabane (Kwenzo Ngcobo), and a broken Apartheid cop seeking redemption, Detective Sakkie Oosthuizen (Albert Pretorius), who find their lives interlocked in a crime drama that explores the complexities of morality and the blurred lines between good and bad.

The show delves into the story of these two complex men, both determined to prove themselves.

Inspired by actual events and a notorious heist legend, the series follows Alex's return to South Africa, where he resorts to crime when the promised 'spoils of war' fail to materialise.

The cast includes Gaosi Raditholo, portraying Lesedi — a single mom and the spark that ignited the flame in Alex Shabane.

Didintle Khunou takes on the role of Thato Sekoati, a 'Born Free' police officer haunted by the loss of her father.

Also in the cast are Kenneth Nkosi as Minister Zungu and Sisanda Henna as Zungu's right-hand man, Maseko.

Additionally, Bahumi Mhlongo plays the character of a young, fearless journalist, Lesedi.

Other cast members include Anelisa Phewa who plays a wild man, a loose cannon, and a tough guy named Vincent, living in a world of simple brutality - kill or be killed.

Dippy Padi takes on the role of the infamous gangster's hot girlfriend, but Pearl knows his heart belongs to someone else.

Panch Gasela portrays the youngest member of Shabane's gang, Toolz, who desires to live fast.

Mavuso Msimang takes on the character of Moskow, a true believer, thinker and idealist, staying true to the cause as a struggle hero.

Soon Comes Night is produced by Ochre Moving Pictures.

The series is directed by Thabang Moleya and Sanele Zulu and produced by Ilse van Hemert.

The executive producers are Stan Joseph, Tshepo Mahloele, Debbie McCrum, Helen Kuun, Tim Gerhartz, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia, Rebecca Fuller-Campbell and Ashillagh Marufu.

The original score is by Joel Assaizky, with additional compositions by Didi Kriel and Philip Miller.
