Description

How to Ruin Christmas is a South African comedy web miniseries in which prodigal daughter Tumi tries to make things right after completely ruining what should have been her sister's picture-perfect Christmas wedding.

Busisiwe Lurayi stars as Tumi Sello, the family rebel and disappointment who begrudgingly joins her dysfunctional family for the first Christmas holidays in years.

It is however, not the merry return of the prodigal daughter everyone was hoping for.

She manages to ruin her younger sister's, Beauty Sello (Thando Thabethe), Christmas wedding before it even takes place, and spends the next three days frantically trying to get things back on track.

The three-part series explores the dysfunctional family whilst offering up the familiarity of class tensions within the black community.

Also starring are Clementine Mosimane as Dineo Sello, Yonda Thomas as Khaya Manqele, Sandile Mahlangu as Sbu Twala, Motlatsi Mafatshe as Themba Twala, Saint Seseli as Vusi Twala, Charmaine Mtinta as Valencia Twala, Rami Chuene as Aunt Grace, Trevor Gumbi as Siya Twala, Nandi Nyembe as Gogo Twala, Desmond Dube as Uncle Shadrack and Keketso Semoko as Aunt Moipone.

Other cast members include Swankie Mafoko as Lydia Twala and Lethabo Bereng as cousin Bokang, as well as Hloni Dippy Padi as Thando and Nambitha Ben-Mazwi as Refiloe.

There are also appearances by Kate Normington as Candice Harden and Seputla Sebogodi as Edmund Mokoena.

A Netflix Original Series created and produced by Burnt Onion Productions, the series is produced by Katleho, Tshepo and Rethabile Ramaphakela.
