Description

Clipz is a South African comedic clip show produced by Don't Look Down Productions for M-Net Original Productions which is a collection of the best clips and videos doing the rounds on email and the worldwide web from one week to the next.

Presented by Darren "Whackhead" Simpson, who M-Net viewers got to know in the comedy pranking series Laugh Out Loud, Clipz features classic online stars and their internet exploits.

The show's format includes a variety of categories which will allow viewers to witness bizarre foreign clips and videos that have colonised the public mind.

Each episode of Clipz features The Top 10 list where Darren counts down the "Top 10 Wipe-Outs". These are clips in which people are literally wiped out while doing everyday as well as unusual tasks.

There's also "The Truth Revealed", featuring a clip of someone speaking or demonstrating the undeniable truth. In the first episode some rather "candid" wedding vows are exhibited.

Another portion of the show is "What's on www.mnet.co.za?" which previews what is available on the broadcaster's website – in the first week we go behind the scenes of the M-Net drama series Life and showcase cast interviews from the comedy-drama Samantha Who?.

Throughout the series, Clipz features a host of other categories, some funny, others bizarre, and a little in between.

In the feature "The Unexplained", Clipz presents puzzling but entertaining items of an unexplained and mind-boggling nature, where you can guess what's being shown in the clip. There is also a "Weekly Theme" and the first episode plays back a comical selection of animal antics.

Nowadays almost anyone can make a special effects clip and the Clipz segment called "Is it Real or Not?" is an example of this. It's almost impossible to tell if what you're seeing has been fabricated. In the first episode the verdict is out about a rather impressive springboard moment.

The Internet has also created a lot of online personalities and each week Clipz introduces a few of them in the segment "Internet Celebs". In Episode 1, Numa Numa Kid, That Kid from Brooklyn and Star Wars Kid are introduced.

The Internet manages to transcend borders, connecting us to foreign cultures. Even so, the meaning of what we are looking at is often lost in translation, so each week the show also brings in a clip from a foreign culture.

This segment of the show is called "Lost In Translation". In episode 1 Clipz has front row seats at a Japanese game show.
