Description

Carte Blanche is a South African current affairs investigative series which covers a variety of current affairs topics including Mark Shuttleworth's trip to the moon to the Tsunami disaster to the biggest murder cases being tried in SA courts.

The series premiered on M-Net on Sunday 21 August, 1988. It is the longest-running show currently on South African television.

Hosted by Derek Watts - the longest-running anchor in the history of South African television - the show has become a source of credible, up to the minute investigative journalism about current events and the people involved in them.

During the course of its extensive run it's featured a diverse range of topics covering everything from Mark Shuttleworth's trip to the moon to the Tsunami disaster to the biggest murder cases being tried in SA courts.

The show regularly tackles scams and problematic business practices affecting the South African public, interviews with celebrities both in South Africa and abroad and brings viewers the individual stories of people who've been affacted either negatively or positively by the circumstances they find themselves in.

In between its regular format which delivers four or five stories a week, the show also features Special Investigations for the full hour in cases where the topic being covered has a variety of angles.

To enhance viewers' experiences by giving them more beyond the show Carte Blanche Interactive was launched in 2003.

This allows satellite audiences to access further information about every story on their TV screens while the show is on and provides them with follow-ups and the opportunity to comment online.

Viewers can also submit their stories if there's something they'd like the Carte Blanche team to follow-up on in their quest for bringing people the truth with objectivity.

On Thursday 29 March 2007 it was announced that Ruda Landman would be leaving the show after 19 years, with her last appearance on the show at the end of June.

Claire Mawisa joined the presenting team from Sunday 12 April, 2015.
