Description

Mgongo (meaning The Power of Sound) is a South African music and gadget entertainment review magazine series produced and directed by James Lennox with his Milk + Sugar production company which covers local and international music videos, behind-the-scenes exclusives and interviews with local and international recording artists, gadget reviews and the latest movie releases.

The series premiered on DStv's Mzansi Magic channel on Tuesday 11 October 2011, at 19h30. It moved to e.tv for the second season. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 premiered on e.tv on Wednesday 19 September 2012, at 20h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 13 episodes in the second season.

Synopsis

Chart-topping local and international music videos, behind-the-scenes exclusives and interviews with local and international recording artists, cutting-edge gadgets and must-have entertainment reviews and the latest movie releases... it's Mgongo.

Mgongo is a completely immersive, half hour entertainment-focused show hosted by Precious Kofi and Sandile van Heerden (Season 1) and Lehasa Moloi (Season 2).

Each week, viewers can expect to be engrossed as the host profiles the likes of Toya DeLazy, Deepa Trybz, The Soil, Lira and more. There are also exclusive chats with international superstars like John Legend and Anthony Hamilton.

Music and gadgets are synonymous with the fast-paced urban culture that young South Africans live and breathe. Mgongo brings viewers the latest news and snippets from the entertainment scene, providing them with a weekly half-hour slot that helps keep their fingers on the pulse of technology.

Ultrabooks, headphones, cameras, tablets and binoculars are some of the interest gadgets they will explore. Viewers also stand a chance of walking away each week with the featured products on the show.
