Description

Mzansi Love (subtitled "Kasi Style" for the first two seasons and "Big City Love" for the third) is a South African romantic comedy anthology television series-turned-weekly-drama based on the Nollybooks novels published by Moky Makura and produced by Fireworx Media (Seasons 1-2) and Red Pepper Pictures (Season 3), which follows the stories of young and sassy South African women trying to navigate the tricky waters of romance in a modern society.

For the first two seasons, each episode was a standalone rom-com and featured a variety of female protagonists, from an aspiring chef to a budding journalist and an eclectic marketing exec. The format changed for Season 3, when it became one serialised story.

Mzansi Love premiered on e.tv on Tuesday 31 July 2012, at 20h30; and on eKasi+ on Thursday 17 July 2014 at 21h00, beginning with Season 2.

About the Show

Mzansi Love: Kasi Style follows the stories of young and sassy South African women trying to navigate the tricky waters of romance in a modern society.

Each episode is a standalone rom-com and features a variety of female protagonists, from an aspiring chef to a budding journalist and an eclectic marketing exec.

The female leads are all at the exciting phase of starting their adult lives - entering the workplace for the first time and trying to fulfil their personal and professional ambitions.

When love finds them, these females are faced with all the passion and excitement that comes with your first love.

Nollybooks is a series of easy-to-read romance fiction titles with South African storylines and characters that reflect the lives and aspirations of the people who read them.

The novels are the brainchild of Moky Makura and are aimed at young African women as a blend of the genres known as "Chick Lit". The concept of Nollybooks was born from a place of wanting woman to read stories that reflect who they are about experiences to which they can relate.

Mzansi Love explores the lives of our young heroines as they meet "the one", fall in love and experience the physical and emotional reactions that love triggers in all of us.

Each of these young women are ladies with ambition, single girls living in the city who encounter love either because they are searching for it, or because love has found them unexpectedly.

Mzansi Love: Kasi Style features a medley of familiar faces and up-and-coming talent in the cast. There are also some prominent industry names behind the production, with Mmabatho Montsho, Zamo Mkhwanazi, Neo Ntlatleng and Myrto Makrides directing the series.

Nollybooks creator Moky Makura was also an executive producer on the series, along with Bridget Pickering of Fireworx Media, for the first two seasons. In Season 3 the production was taken over by Red Pepper Pictures.
