About the Show

Greek is an American teen comedy-drama television series created by Patrick Sean Smith and produced by Piller Squared/The Segan Company which follows students of Cyprus-Rhodes University who partake in the school's fraternities and sororities, commonly known as the "Greek system".

It follows the life of Casey Cartwright and her brother, Rusty Cartwright. Most of the characters belong to either the fictional fraternities Kappa Tau Gamma and Omega Chi Delta, or the fictional sorority Zeta Beta Zeta.

The series aired in the USA on ABC Family from 9 July, 2007 to 7 March, 2011. After the first 10 episodes of Greek aired, production was halted because of the WGA strike. Prior to the airing of the remainder of season 1, a compilation of the first 10 episodes titled Season One: Chapter One was released. Following suit, the latter half of season 1 was later compiled as Season 1: Chapter Two. Later seasons would be divided into two halves, or simply "chapters."

Greek premiered in South Africa on DStv's GO (now Vuzu) channel on Thursday 16 October 2008, at 18h30. It moved to DStv's M-Net Series channel for the third season. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 4 premiered on M-Net Series on Saturday 8 October 2011, at 20h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 10 episodes in the fourth and final season.

Synopsis

Fraternities. Sororities. No rules. No parents. College life at its finest.

Greek focuses on college life, the social minefield that is the Greek system and on a cast of characters who are trying to navigate their way through this treacherous terrain at Cyprus-Rhodes University.

Greek takes a look at one college freshman Rusty as he sets out to reinvent himself after being academically focused during his high school years. Rusty believes that he has missed out on all the fun and wants to live a different lifestyle in college.

However, his sister Casey is already ensconced as a sorority siren and is not too keen on having her younger brother invade her world.

From the start their family bond is tested as Rusty heads into rush week and discovers information that could hurt his sister but could jeopardise his bid to the most prestigious fraternity.

As these two navigate their way through the fraternity and sorority life, their previously non-existent relationship becomes intertwined as Rusty tries to live the party life, which Casey feels is an invasion into her world.
