About the Show

According to Jim is an American situation comedy television series created by Tracy Newman and Jonathan Stark and starring Jim Belushi as Jim, a macho Everyman who challenges his feisty wife, Cheryl, with his stubborn manliness but contagious charm.

The series aired in the USA on ABC from 3 October, 2001 to 2 June, 2009. There are 182 half-hour episodes in eight seasons.

According to Jim originally premiered in South Africa on SABC2 on Thursday 7 February 2002, at 20h30. It moved to SABC3 for the fifth season, after which the SABC lost the rights to broadcast the show. The series later aired on DStv's Comedy Central channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 4 premiered on Comedy Central on Thursday 25 October 2012, at 18h50. Thereafter new episodes broadcast in a double bill daily, on weekdays at 18h25. There are 27 episodes in the fourth season.

Synopsis

Jim is a macho Everyman who challenges his feisty wife, Cheryl, with his stubborn manliness but contagious charm.

Tagging along with this duo of happily married opposites are their three precocious kids, Ruby, Gracie and Kyle.

A success at his construction business and the family breadwinner at home, Jim feeds his other passion - blues music - playing with his six-man garage band.

Everything is perfect for Jim, if it wasn't for the messy situations he gets himself into and his laziness, which often makes him search for alternative ways of doing things with less effort.

Of course, having his wife's siblings hanging out at his house all the time is no help. While Andy might be one of his best friends, Dana often teams up with Cheryl against Jim.

He keeps Cheryl in turmoil with his boyish bravado and ever willful antics, but their underlying love guarantees that they are in their marriage for keeps.
