About the Show

The Ellen DeGeneres Show, often shortened to Ellen, is an American syndicated television talk show hosted by actress/comedian Ellen DeGeneres which features interviews with celebrities and members of the public, comedic monologues by the host and music performances.

Stand-up comedienne Ellen DeGeneres takes Talk TV into her own quirky hands in her five-days-a-week talk show The Ellen Degeneres Show.

Featuring Ellen's witty humour and her dancing like a wild thing, the show is a variety mix of interviews with celebrities, musical sensations performing live, inserts on real people doing wow things, in between the audience playing crazy games.

Ellen delivers her uniquely hysterical observations in a monologue at the beginning of each hour-long show, setting the mood for the party that follows for everyone involved.

Broadcast Notes

The show premiered in the USA in syndication on 8 September, 2003.

The Ellen Degeneres Show premiered in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Series channel on Friday 2 June, 2006, starting with Season 3 (the first two seasons did not air in South Africa). It moved to M-Net Series Showcase when the former channel became defunct in 2013 and moved again to M-Net Series Reality midway through Season 11.

The show moved once again to M-Net for Season 12, shortly before the two M-Net Series channels became defunct in October 2014.

In 2017, the show was moved to Vuzu, with no explanation from either M-Net or Vuzu.
