About the Show

Run's House is an American reality television series created by Russell Simmons, Stan Lathan, Will Griffin, John Davies and Sean Combs which follows the family of rapper and hip-hop music pioneer Joseph Simmons a.k.a. "Reverend Run".

The series aired in the USA on MTV from 13 October, 2005 to 14 July, 2009. There are 59 half-hour episodes in six seasons.

Run's House originally aired in South Africa on DStv's MTVbase and MTV channels. It later began airing on SABC3, beginning with Season 3. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 6 premiered on SABC3 on Friday 28 September 2012, at 21h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are nine episodes in the sixth and final season.

Season 1

From Sean Combs and Russell Simmons comes the MTV reality sensation, Run's House. Starring Rev Run and his family, Run's House brings Hip-Hop Reality Family Values to the airwaves.

Run's House focuses on Run (aka Joey Simmons of Run DMC) as he raises his family of five children, ages 8 to 21, with his loving wife, Justine.

Viewers get a riveting view as this hands-on, hip-hop dad negotiates everyday parenting challenges from the birds and the bees to his daughter's graduation.

"My family is my ministry," he said in a statement. "I'm gonna raise it up with or without cameras."

But his family is not the only thing the Reverend aims to raise up. He hopes that the show might offer something surprising to its audience.

"I'm not trying to fight stereotypes," he explains. "I'm just trying to give another perspective and show what rap is all about, especially for someone who knows only the negative things. Me and my family are rap all grown up."

Season 2

Where has Rev Run been? He's had his hands full with his lovely wife and three sons who want to be the next Bow Wow, John Singleton and Michael Jordan.

Add to that a daughter who thinks the Simmons name is a ticket to a life of luxury and another daughter who just got signed as a Ford model, and you've got a full house.

When Rev. Run's not keeping the peace at home, he's busy keeping the faith in church...oh, and making a comeback album.

Roll with Rev Run and fam in this reality sitcom. Who's house? Run's house.

Season 3

In its third season on MTV, America has returned to its favourite Hip-Hop family Run's House.

The Simmons family has charmed audiences for two laughter-packed seasons, allowing MTV cameras into their home to capture real stories from their everyday lives.

With a unique blend of grounded family values, and a hip-hop royalty lifestyle, this family's everyday lives are anything but ordinary.

Through laughter and heartache, Rev Run and his family prove over nine episodes that a family that prays together, stays together.

Season 4

Season 4 of Run's House returns and the Simmons family will once again open their home to MTV's cameras.

This season, the whole family - Run, Justine, Vanessa, Angela, JoJo, Diggy and Russy - is back under one roof, and what they experience together will change their lives forever.

Rev Run and his wife, Justine, continue to teach their kids to celebrate success and endure pain with their unique outlook on life.

The past three seasons of Run's House has brought you the often-hilarious struggles of Rev Run, who has tried to strike a balance between being a father, a reverend and an icon while keeping America's first family of hip-hop securely grounded.

From homework and sex education to a Las Vegas wedding and Run's oldest daughter, Vanessa, appearing half-naked in Maxim magazine, the family has proven it's able to laugh at itself.

While Season 2 of Run's House ended with the family looking forward to welcoming a new baby to the household, Season 3 began with the unexpected loss of Rev Run and Justine's newborn, Victoria Anne Simmons.

Even in the face of such a tragedy, Run insisted that the cameras keep rolling, believing that his family's heartbreak could inspire others in their times of need. Run, Justine and the rest of the Simmons family carried on despite their pain.

During Season 3 of Run's House, JoJo learned to drive, Russy learned the value of money, Vanessa and Angela launched their own line of shoes, Rev Run donned a gorilla suit and Justine continued to heal.

Plus, Vanessa got the acting role she had been dreaming of and JoJo prepared to go to college.

But the biggest news of all was that Run and Justine decided they wanted to adopt a baby. And with change comes responsibility, bringing us to Season 4.

Season 4 of Run's House finds the family at the beginning of a summer full of surprises. Rev Run's daughters are anxious to fly the coop and move to Los Angeles, while Run and Justine prepare their home for a possible new addition to the family.

JoJo is graduating from high school and on a quest for a record label deal, Diggy is starting to like girls and Russy is growing up fast.

But when circumstances pull Angela and Vanessa from their New York City apartment, they land back at Run's House for the summer, and Rev Run knows this could be the last time his entire family is under one roof.

Last season, the Simmons clan had a year of extreme highs and lows, and now Rev Run hopes they can enjoy some of their best times together.

During season 4, the family will get some news that will change their lives forever, making way for a new beginning and a very different family dynamic.

Season 5

MTV's first family of hip-hop is back! It's time to step inside Run's House as patriarch Rev Run and the rest of the Simmons clan once again open their doors - and hearts - for our cameras.

And, once again, no matter how high the highs or low the lows, they remain grounded by their strong faith and tight family bond.

In Season 5, Run's House has expanded with the addition of adopted daughter Miley, who makes quite an impression on her doting parents and siblings with her adorable disposition and all-around cuteness. And as the family grows, so does the hilarity.

This time around, everyone is literally all over the map. Rev Run is experiencing a career resurgence as he tours the country with Kid Rock while wife Justine holds down the fort in New Jersey.

Vanessa and Angela are living bicoastal lifestyles by traveling between Los Angeles and New York City while working hard to secure their niche in life.

JoJo focuses on college and continues his quest for world domination with his rap group, Team Blackout.

Diggy is stuck in the tween stage - too young to run with the big kids and too old to have much interest in hanging out at home - and seeks solace in his newfound love of skateboarding.

And, with little Miley on-board, Russy is no longer the baby of the family, so he struggles to assert himself as the man of the house.

A 2008 NAACP Image Award winner for Outstanding Reality Series, Run's House has continually followed the jubilations and tribulations of this American family.

From JoJo's and Vanessa's budding careers and Diggy's newfound interest in girls to Russy's prankster ways and Angela's desire to break out of her shell, Rev Run and Justine have had their own unique and effective way of navigating their family through times of joy and tragedy.

Season 5 once again has Rev Run doling out words of wisdom in his unique way while striking a balance between being a father and an icon - all while keeping hip-hop's royal family firmly grounded.

Season 6

Led by patriarch Rev Run, the Simmons family once again opens their doors and their hearts to MTV's cameras, proving that a family that prays together stays together.

The talented Simmons family turns on the charm for a momentous sixth season of doing what they do best: being themselves.

For five seasons, we have followed the ups and downs of this American family, watching Rev Run and his wife Justine parent in their own unique and effective way, navigating their family with grace and class in good times and bad.

Last season ended with a surprise family reunion. It saw daughters Vanessa and Angela truly living a bi-coastal lifestyle, and son JoJo throwing a record release party with his group, Team Blackout. The younger boys were there, too, with Diggy waiting to get his braces off and Russy performing a magic show.

And at the heart of it all was Rev Run, who continues to set the standard for fathers everywhere, holding his family together with his one-of-a-kind preaching and teaching.

The sixth season of Run's House begins in epic fashion as the family heads to Hawaii for an unforgettable family vacation. After the ziplining and helicopter rides, they return to New Jersey for some classic Run's House drama and comedy as Rev seeks new missions - from babyproofing the house to trying to be an office worker.

Meanwhile, Justine overspends on the now walking and talking Miley, Russy explores identities with a passion that's charming and hilarious, becoming obsessed with weight-training and tap dancing.

Diggy tries to get his blog to dominate the Internet while JoJo finds traction working under the watchful eye of Uncle Russell.

Vanessa and Angela - a couple of Daddy's Girls who have set up their lives and their Pastry shoe business in Los Angeles - return to visit often (sometimes because Rev Run tricks them into coming home).

Watch as The Rev strikes a balance between being a father, a reverend and an icon, all in his attempt to keep rap's royal family securely grounded while living a uniquely privileged lifestyle.

Who's House? Run's House!
