Pimville is a South African telenovela set in the heart of Soweto which follows the lives of various characters as they navigate complex relationships, secrets and power struggles.
From reformed hustlers to strong matriarchs, each character brings their own story to the table.
The series shines a light on the pulse of township life where dreams collide with reality, secrets unravel and family bonds are tested.
The characters:

Gail Mabalane stars as Pheello Mohapi, a strong-willed woman and detective, navigating love, betrayal and survival.
Matli Mohapeloa plays Pheello's partner Mmusi, who is torn between power, loyalty and truth.

Kenneth Tumagole (played by Thapelo Mokoena) is a respected community leader facing moral tests and ambition.

His wife Naledi (played by Keke Mphuthi) fights to protect her family and legacy.

Other characters include Vusi "Jobe" Sithole (Mondli Makhoba), a reformed hustler trying to rebuild his life; and Zinzi Masondo (Michelle Mosalakae), Jobe's wife, who has a quiet strength shaped by years of hardship.

Also in the cast is Clementine Mosimane who plays Mme Mathapelo, the wise matriarch who guards traditions and secrets.

Lillian Dube as Rakgadi wa Freistata - a beloved elder whose wit, heart and humour define the soul of Pimville.
In the series premiere: Detective Sergeant Phello chases a case that refuses to stay buried, but the deeper she digs, the more entangled her world becomes.
Pimville was created by Brenda Muofhe and is produced by Bakwena Productions by executive and series producer Rashaka Muofhe.
The head director is Kagiso Ya Bakwena Modupe.
The head writers are Lunga John Radebe and Sayitsheni Mdakhi, with a writing team including Thishiwe Ziqubu, Sinethemba Keleku, Thulani Cekiso, Glenrose Nldovu-Udeh and Tsepo Mamatu.
The music composers are Bernard Masoka and Thapelo Motlhatlhedi.
Broadcast Notes
Pimville was intended to air for a year, but the show was abruptly cancelled on 25 May, 2026, after just 75 episodes had aired, after a dispute with the production company.
