About the Show

Emmerdale is a British television soap opera created by Kevin Laffan and set in the countryside of the Yorkshire Dales in the fictional village of Emmerdale, which chronicles the joys and heartbreaks of a tightly-knit community.

The Tate, Sugden, Dingle and King families rely on the farm and its nearby village for their livelihoods, but the locale also provides plenty of danger and drama as well.

Car crashes, shootings, fires, a Home Farm raid and even a plane crash have rocked the region, but its inhabitants carry on and even thrive in the bustling village they call home - where there's never a dull moment.

Emmerdale is produced by ITV Studios Yorkshire in Leeds.

Broadcast Notes

Emmerdale debuted in South Africa on ITV Choice on the day the channel went live (5 May, 2015), beginning with Episode 7173. The South African broadcast is two days behind the UK one.
