About the Show

Low Winter Sun is an American television drama series based upon the 2006 British miniseries of the same name and developed for U.S. television by Chris Mundy in which two Detroit policemen murder a colleague in a seemingly perfect crime, only to discover afterwards that the man they murdered was being investigated by Internal Affairs.

The series aired in the USA on AMC from 11 August to 6 October, 2013. There are 10 hour-long episodes in one season.

Low Winter Sun premiered in South Africa on DStv's FOX Crime channel (simulcast in HD) on Sunday 6 October 2013, at 21h25. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 10 episodes in the first season.

Synopsis

Low Winter Sun is a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred.

Low Winter Sun begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective's life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld.

Filmed on location in Detroit, this gritty and provocative crime drama explores the city's many contradictions, from its physical and spiritual decay to its survivors' resilience.

Based on the award-winning 2006 British miniseries of the same name, Low Winter Sun stars Mark Strong (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Zero Dark Thirty) and co-stars Lennie James (The Walking Dead, Jericho, Snatch).

Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds, Cold Case) serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Season one consists of 10, one-hour episodes.
