Project Accessory is an American reality competition television series created as a spin off from Project Runway in which contestants are given challenges in which they must create various fashion accessories (ranging from jewelry and headpieces to handbags and shoes) with restrictions for materials, subject matter and time.
One or more contestants are eliminated each episode after appearing before a judging panel.
The series aired in the USA on Lifetime from 28 October to 22 December, 2011. There are eight hour-long episodes in one season.
The series originally aired in South Africa on DStv's Vuzu channel from 3-25 July, 2013. New episodes broadcast on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 20h30. The series later aired on M-Net Series Zone. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.
Project Accessory premieres on M-Net Series Zone on Saturday 24 May 2014, at 17h00. Thereafter new episodes broadcast in a double bill weekly, at 13h30.
Synopsis
Lifetime proves attitude is the best accessory with the series Project Accessory.
On this show hosted by actress and model Molly Sims, 12 designers compete and showcase their unique vision for accessories and show audiences how to transform any outfit.
The designers must dazzle Sims and the judges — designer Kenneth Cole and InStyle Editor Ariel Foxman — with their one-of-a-kind jewelry, belts, bags, shoes, headpieces and other wares, with the help of lifestyle expert Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti as their mentor.
Emmy Award–winning actress Debra Messing and fashion critic and television personality Kelly Osbourne appear as guest judges this season, among other fashion luminaries.
The winner of Project Accessory receives $100,000 from eBay Fashion to start their own line, a feature spread in InStyle and a year of professional runway hair styling courtesy of John Frieda Precision Foam Color.
Project Accessory is produced by The Weinstein Company and Good Bye Pictures.
