Zooming in on Men is a South African television talk show that tackles issues related to men becoming better men, exploring the challenges and questions they face in a post-Apartheid, post-millennium South Africa.
The series premiered on SABC3 on Sunday 22 April 2007, at 16h30. Episodes are half an hour in length.
Hosted by writer, actor and radio personality Eric Miyeni, the show is inspired by the success of print magazines like GQ and Men's Health as well as the rapidly changing South African social landscape and seeks to extend these trends through the medium of television.
While it focuses on men, it appeals to women who want to understand men better too.
The various aspects the show focuses on include:
An experiential insert in which Eric explores a range of activities that are of interest to men, from Capoeira, Skydiving, and Advanced Driving to Tai Chi, Sand Boarding, Bikram Yoga etc taking viewers through the process and serving as a guinea pig for the possibilities available to them.
Discussion with guests around a topic, with Eric acting as facilitator & contributor. The aim is to get the views of extraordinary men on a variety of topics. The show reflects the spirit of guys chilling and talking, whether at their favourite restaurant or bar, on the golf course, etc.
The modern urban man has many options available to him when it comes to grooming and style. These inserts engage with fashion and fashion designers, grooming treatments, etc.
Sexuality, religion and tradition (eg. Afrikaans, Zulu, Indian) are other subjects that are focused on.
