Donald Trump's Golf War is a British documentary produced by Midas which follows the epic battle of American billionaire Donald Trump to build "the greatest golf course in the world" on a beautiful, protected stretch of coastline in the north-east of Scotland.
The documentary originally aired in the UK on BBC Two on 1 March, 2011. It is an hour long.
Donald Trump's Golf War aired in South Africa on SABC3 on Sunday 13 May 2012, at 20h30, with a repeat broadcast on Wednesday 16 May at 08h30.
Synopsis
American business tycoon, global super brand, billionaire developer and media star, Donald Trump built his fortune in commercial real estate. He has developed some of Manhattan's most prestigious office buildings and owns hotels, casinos and golf courses across the US.
Now, Trump wants to turn acres of beautiful rugged coastal land near Aberdeen, Scotland, into the ultimate golfing experience, complete with private houses, villas and a sumptuous five-star hotel.
The local economy, so long solely reliant on oil, couldn't fail to herald Trump as a saviour... or so it was thought.
But not everyone is keen on the plans. Protestors have found an unlikely local hero in farmer Michael Forbes. His ramshackle 23 acres are surrounded on all sides by prime Trump real estate, yet the stubborn local farmer rejected payments, relocations and even management job offers.
Featuring exclusive interviews with Trump and his family, Donald Trump's Golf War tells the story of this controversial billion pound development, from initial plans to the moment the diggers roll.
