About the Show

The Cape is an American superhero action drama television series created by Tom Wheeler about Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife and son.

Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Vince becomes The Cape - his son's favourite comic book superhero - and takes the law into his own hands.

The series aired in the USA on NBC from 9 January to 28 February, 2011. It was cancelled after one season. There are 10 hour-long episodes in the series.

The series originally aired in South Africa on SABC3 from 20 April to 22 June, 2011, on Wednesdays at 19h30. New episodes broadcast weekly. It later aired on StarSat's Star One channel. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

The Cape premiered on Star One on Thursday 22 May 2014, at 17h00. New episodes broadcast daily at the same time, on weekdays.

Synopsis

The Cape is a one-hour drama series starring David Lyons as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead.

He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife Dana (Jennifer Ferrin) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Vince Faraday becomes The Cape - his son's favourite comic book superhero - and takes the law into his own hands.

Rounding out the cast are James Frain as billionaire Peter Fleming, The Cape's nemesis who moonlights as the twisted killer Chess; Keith David as Max Milani, the ringleader of a circus gang of bank robbers who mentors Vince Faraday and trains him to be The Cape; Summer Glau as Orwell, an investigative blogger who wages war on crime and corruption in Palm City; Dorian Missick as Marty Voyt, a former police detective and friend to Faraday; Martin Klebba as Rollo, member and unassuming muscle of the circus gang of bank robbers; and Vinnie Jones as Scales, resident thug and cohort of The Cape's nemesis Chess.

The Cape is a Universal Media Studios and BermanBraun production from Executive Producer/Creator Tom Wheeler, along with Executive Producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, John Wirth and Gene Stein.
