Soundcheck Live is a South African live music request show produced by Blixem Productions featuring a request segment, live acoustic performances, interviews with studio guests and dedications and shout-outs.
The series premiered on M-Net on Wednesday 2 December 2009, at 17h00. New episodes air weekly. There are 18 hour-long episodes in the first season, with an option of more episodes later.
Synopsis
Idols host Liezel van der Westhuizen and Bongani Nxumalo of 94.7 Highveld Stereo host M-Net’s music request show Soundcheck Live.
The weekly show is an hour-long live music request show with a number of interactive elements.
Soundcheck Live gives viewers the opportunity to request music videos from a selection of the best local and international songs, as well as some golden oldies.
Each week there is an acoustic performance by local bands and musicians, as well as interviews with guests in studio.
Viewers can call in with their own personal "shout-outs" and dedications and can send emails, SMSs and MMSs to Liezel and Bongani, live.
Liezel is best known as a DJ on Jacaranda 94.2 and for hosting Idols. Bongani does the traffic reports for 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s breakfast team, and is a performer in his own right.
