Kevin Alejandro is an American actor best known for his television roles as Benito 'Benny' Velasquez in Sleeper Cell (2006); as Santos, the father of Justin Suarez and love interest of Hilda, in Ugly Betty (2006-2007); and as Danny Reyes in the second season of Shark, from 2007-2008.
He has also had starring roles as nurse Jesus Velasquez in the horror series True Blood and as homicide detective Christian Arroyo, a senior detective, in the police procedural Golden Boy.
Alejandro was featured on Ugly Betty, playing Santos, the father of Justin Suarez and love interest of Hilda. In the first season finale, Santos is shot while attempting to foil an armed robbery and killed.
His appearance in the Season 2 premiere episode was a fantasy induced by Hilda's grief. At the end of the episode Hilda finally admits Santos is gone and begins to mourn his loss rather than live in denial.
At the time of the Season 1 finale episode's filming, Alejandro had just become a series regular on the Fox network's drama series Drive, which was subsequently cancelled.
He was a featured player in the second season of the Showtime original series Sleeper Cell, playing Benito Velasquez, and also played Dominic Hughes in The Young and the Restless.
He made an appearance, along with fellow Ugly Betty actor Eric Mabius, in the CSI: Miami episode "One of Us," and another as a gay hustler in HBO's Big Love.
He joined the cast of the CBS television series Shark as Deputy District Attorney Danny Reyes for its second season, in 2007.
He also appeared on an episode of Charmed season 7 as Malvock, a cunning demon, and in the first few episodes of 24's fourth season as a terrorist henchman.
Other television series he has acted in include Crossing Jordan (his television debut in 2003), Las Vegas, JAG, Alias, CSI: NY, Threshold, Medium, E-Ring, Without a Trace, NCIS, Burn Notice and The Cleaner.
Among Alejandro's film credits are Truth and Dare (2003), Constantine (2005) and Strange Wilderness (2008) with Steve Zahn.
In 2008 he starred as the enigmatic Sim known only as Amasso in Gemini Division, a web series about Anna Diaz, an undercover vice cop from the NYPD who is thrust into a secret struggle between a classified government agency called Gemini Division and a group of suspected terrorists known as Sims.
Alejandro studied theatre at the University of Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas and lives in Los Angeles.
