Hilarie Burton is an American actress best known for her starring role as Peyton Sawyer in the teen drama series One Tree Hill, from 2003-2009.
She currently stars as insurance investigator Sara Ellis on the comedy-drama police procedural television series White Collar, since 2010.
American audiences are familiar with Burton from her work as an MTV VJ. She also has a presence in network and cable TV, radio and the big screen.
Burton recently appeared in two thrillers: Solstice and The List. Her latest feature, Our Very Own, whose ensemble cast features Allison Janney, Jason Ritter and Cheryl Hines, was screened at the prestigious Sarasota Film Festival and honored with a special Outstanding Ensemble Acting Award.
As a former host of TRL, MTV's request show, and various MTV specials, Burton interviewed the most talked-about people in entertainment, from Angelina Jolie to Britney Spears.
Born and raised in Loudoun County, Virginia, with her three brothers, Burton developed a passion for acting early in life. Shortly after moving to New York to pursue her dream, she landed the coveted job of VJ at MTV and her role on One Tree Hill.
Burton began dating fellow actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan in 2009. The couple welcomed a son named Gus in March 2010.
