David Choe is an American painter, muralist, graffiti artist and graphic novelist of Korean descent whose figure paintings, which explore themes of desire, degradation and exaltation, are characterised by a raw, frenetic tone that he has termed "dirty style."
Choe has worked since his teens in various media including sculpture, oil paint, acrylics, crayon and mixed media. Influences flow through comic book culture to gothic art, impressionism and the surreal.
He has also featured as a correspondent in the VICE Media productions The Vice Guide to Travel and the HBO series Vice.
Choe is a native of Los Angeles.
