Bio

Rudeboy Paul is a South African poet, musician, vocalist, emcee, presenter, DJ, actor and editor, best known to television audiences as the host of the music shows Jam Alley and Lilizela Mlilizeli.

Paul began his journey into the world of media in 1995, presenting a youth environmental programme Ecovision. At the time he was completing media studies at the Boston City Campus.

With the birth of the Voice of Soweto (a now defunct community radio station), Paul joined the station firstly as a newsreader and later to host his own Saturday Breakfast Show on the station.

As an evening host on the station, his show Groove Kamikaze (18h00-22h00) had features like Youth Crossfire and Rap Activity Jam, a slot in which Rudeboy would give unrecorded underground Rap and Hip Hop artists the opportunity to voice out their talents and tunes on air.

Rudeboy was chosen to present the popular Youth Music Show Jam Alley on SABC1, which gave him further accessibility and exposure to the very same market he was presenting to on radio.

It was also at this time that his love and skill for the turntable would develop.

His passion for the arts, music and entertainment lead him to register Rudeboy Productions (Pty) Ltd in 2001.

In 2002, Yfm took on a new look and feel, placing Rudeboy as a main prime time presenter, giving birth to the Kamikaze Heat (14h00-18h00), with co-host Unathi Nkayi.

New features included the brain teaser, live interviews, major focus on local music, hip hop, R&B sessions, entertainment news, live poetry readings and prank calls.

In the same year he was elected the Editor of Y magazine, Gauteng's urban popular culture magazine for the youth.

In 2002 Rudeboy had a television appearances on Soul City and Amandla-A revolution in four part harmony (A Bomb Shelter Production).

He hosted of the SABC1 game show The Kids Are All Right in 2009 and in 2014 took over from Aubrey Poo as the host of the SABC2 voter education game show The Right to Win.
