Bio

Portia Malinga, 29, is originally from Germiston but now resides in Durban. She holds a diploma in sports management from Pretoria Technicon and is an instructor at Virgin Active.

She was voted 'best female in sports' in both high school and at technicon and enjoys training weights and playing rugby for the Natal Sharks in her spare time.

Quote

"I would describe myself as a very positive person and I enjoy being around positive thinkers, I'm gifted and a born leader and physically and mentally I think that I have an edge over the other contestants, I know that I can beat them.

"My worst fear is heights and one of the reasons that I'm entering Fear Factor is to overcome this fear. I'm also entering the competition to have fun and to meet new people.

"The bravest thing that I've ever done is when I shot a man in the knee who tried to rob me and I think that the most physical thing that I've ever done would be taking a 12-hour spinning class.

"When I'm nervous I just find a quiet place to breathe and relax and when I'm stressed out I work out a lot, doing a lot of cardio work.

"I would say that my greatest achievement in life would be to have been chosen to play for the Blue Bulls in 2002. My most embarrassing experience happened to me when I was in school and I was laughing at someone's hairstyle, I tripped and fell and my skirt went over my head and showed everyone my g-string.

"I enjoyed last year's show but I thought that it got hectic towards the end when people started getting injured. I enjoyed all the bonding that took place on last years show as it helps in terms of motivation.

"My favourite movie is Madagascar, my favourite food is a Big Mac and my favourite celebrity would have to be DJ Cleo."
