Sam Robards is an American actor who has appeared in numerous television series such as Spin City, The West Wing, Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Sex & the City.

He also has a starring role as Kyle Masterson, the town sheriff and Jo's overprotective father, in the teen drama mystery-thriller television series Twisted.

Robards is known to television audiences for his roles as Tim Feeny on Treme, Greg Brock on The West Wing, Larry Potter on Get a Life and Kevin Keegan on TV 101.

He also played Nate's father, Howie Archibald, on the CW's Gossip Girl. Robards has also appeared on The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, Body of Proof, Law & Order, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Sex and the City and Spin City.

On the big screen, Robards can be seen in The Art of Getting By, The Rebound, opposite Catherine Zeta Jones, Awake, Prêt-à-Porter, Che: Part One, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle, Life as a House, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Bounce, American Beauty, Beautiful Girls, Casualties of War, Bird, Bright Lights, Big City, Not Quite Paradise, Fandango and Tempest.

He also has appeared on stage in the Broadway productions of The 39 Steps and Absurd Person Singular, and was nominated for a Tony and Drama Desk Award for his work in The Man Who Had All the Luck.

Off-Broadway credits include roles in The Overwhelming, Misalliance, The Altruists, Burn This, Taking Steps, The Philadelphia Story and Album.

He is the son of Jason Robards and Lauren Bacall.
