Bio

Catherine Bruhier is a Canadian actress best known for her role as Elaine Bresbiss on the television drama series Due South, from 1994-1997.

Bruhier was born in Belize, Central America (formerly British Honduras). Her mother and father were both born and raised in Belize. Her family moved to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, when she was an infant.

After graduating from Saint John High School (the same High School Donald Sutherland attended) and winning a scholarship and an artistic award she moved to Toronto to pursue her acting career.

After attending both York University, University of Toronto (briefly) and graduating from the George Brown College Theatre Program, Catherine's first big break came when she was cast as the leading lady along side Eric McCormack in the David French play Salt-Water Moon.

The two-cast member equity play ran at Theatre New Brunswick's main stage. The play was considered untraditional casting as this was the first time the female character was portrayed by a non-Caucasian actor; as a result Catherine was asked to write an article in Toronto's Theatrum Magazine on her experience as visible minority in an untraditionally cast role.

The article was entitled Darkness Visible and it appeared in the September '90 issue of Theatrum Magazine.

Darkness Visible was then republished by Prentice Hall in a school text book called 'Play Making Magazine' as an inspirational piece for grades 7 to 9.

Bruhier has made guest appearances on numerous television shows, including Katts and Dog (her screen debut in 1990), Frasier, Missing, Soul Food and Angela's Eyes.

She has been married to actor/producer Steve Pacini since 19 July 2003.
