Bio

Duke Motlanthe is a South African actor and singer best known for his role as Lesedi Maponya in the e.tv soapie Backstage, in which he starred for several years.

He also starred as Young Mkhuseli in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Inkaba, from 2012-2013.

Other television series he has acted in include 7de Laan, Generations, Unicity, Life is Wild, Rhythm City, 90 Plein Street and Erfsondes.

He was also a Top 50 finalist on the M-Net reality singing competition Idols, in 2002. He was eliminated in the fourth semifinal.

He also had a guest starring role in Episode 6 of the SABC1 science fiction series Room 9, in 2012.

Duke received a BA Drama degree from Rhodes University and studied TV presenting with Gina Benjamin. He is multilingual, speaking English, North Sotho, South Sotho, Tswana, Afrikaans, Xhosa and Zulu.
