Fabian Basabe is an American socialite best known for appearing in the E! network reality show Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive in 2005.
The son of Fabian Basabe, Sr., a restaurateur in Bal Harbour, Florida, he gained publicity when he was photographed dancing with President Bush's daughter Barbara at a New York party.
On 8 January 2005 he married Martina Borgomanero, an heiress to the La Perla lingerie fortune. Women's Wear Daily reported that the wedding, which took place at the Casa del Campo resort in the Dominican Republic, "occurred the same weekend as the club's VIP junket", pointing out that "Many things rich people pay for the young Basabe seems to get for free."
According to Basabe's former publicist, R. Couri Hay, the wedding reception was underwritten by the restaurant at which it was held, Salon.
The New York Post reported that Basabe yelled racial epithets at African-American bouncers at a East Hampton, New York nightclub on July 7, 2005 after having been asked to leave.
An 7 December 2006 article in Women's Wear Daily reported that contrary to Basabe's assertions, his father is not an Ecuadoran telephone tycoon but instead a Florida restaurateur.
