Bio
Kristin Kreuk is a Canadian actress best known for her starring role as Lana Lang in the science fiction television series Smallville, from 2001-2009 and again in 2011.
She currently stars as Detective Catherine Chandler, a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective who witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen when she was a teenager, in the science fiction police procedural television drama series Beauty and the Beast, since 2012.
She is also well known amongst Canadian audiences for her role as Laurel Yeung in the Canadian teen soapie Edgemont.
Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Kreuk began acting in high school plays but focused more on her schoolwork than the stage. Her father, Peter Kreuk is of Dutch ancestry and her mother, Deanna Che is Chinese Indonesian.
In her senior year a casting director was looking for new talent for the television series Edgemont and cast Kreuk in a lead role. She stayed with the show for four seasons, until 2003.
In addition to being a face of Neutrogena for six years, Kreuk performed a cameo in the film Eurotrip, opposite Matt Damon, starred in the mini-series Earthsea, opposite Isabella Rossellini, and starred in the Canadian feature Partition, opposite Jimi Mistry, as well as the feature Streetfighter: The Legend of Chun Li and the independent Vampire.
Kreuk also starred in the BBC re-telling of Ben Hur, Chuck and recently starred in the feature films Ecstacy and Space Milkshake.
Kreuk currently resides in Vancouver and, when she's not working enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends and her dog Dublin.
