James Cromwwell is an American actor best known for his roles as Arthur Hoggett in the 1995 feature film Babe, as George Sibley in the HBO television series Six Feet Under and as Jack Bauer's father Phillip in the sixth season of 24.

He is also known as a supporting actor in a wide variety of movies, notably The Babe (1992); Romeo Is Bleeding (1993); Eraser (1996); The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996); Star Trek: First Contact (1996); L.A. Confidential (1997); Deep Impact (1998); The General's Daughter (1999); Snow Falling on Cedars (1999); The Green Mile (1999); Space Cowboys (2000); The Sum of All Fears (2002); I, Robot (2004); and The Queen (2006).

Cromwell has had recurring roles in numerous television series, including Maude; Little House On The Prairie; Diff'rent Strokes; Dallas; Star Trek: The Next Generation; ER; and Six Feet Under.

He has had numerous guest starring roles in shows like M*A*S*H; Three's Company; Eight Is Enough; Family Ties; Night Court; Riptide; Knight Rider; Hill Street Blues; Hunter; The Twilight Zone; China Beach; Mr. Belvedere; Matlock; Jake And The Fatman; Home Improvement; Picket Fences; Star Tre: Deep Space Nine; and The West Wing.

He has also appeared in the television mini-series Once An Eagle, Dream West and Angels In America.
