Bio

Philippus Boshoff is a South African actor and film crew professional best known for his starring role as Roelf, Phil's younger brother who is a career student busy with his fourth course in three years, in the kykNET comedy series Phil 101.

Philippus finished high school in Thabazimbi and decided to trade the Bushveld for Dallas, Texas. He was accepted into the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied Theatre Arts.

As part of his course, he gained knowledge in set building and carpentry, which would benefit him later in life, but his actual focus was performance.

During his time at UTA he was cast in many of their stage productions, ranging from smaller, intimate dramas to a large production of Fiddler on the Roof. He was also a member of the Maverick Theatre Company's improv troupe, Flight 12.

After university, he moved to Cape Town where he was accepted into the University of Cape Town's Drama Department. However, he decided not to further his studies right then and found employment as a model builder in the advertising industry.

After six months of gaining on-set experience in the film industry, he was offered a position as a set dresser on the kykNET drama series Sterlopers, in Johannesburg. He was used as an extra a few times during that production and had a cameo speaking role in the second season.

While staying busy in the art and lighting departments, he made his film debut in the American film The Journey is the Destination, which was shot in Johannesburg in 2015. Philippus was cast in a minor speaking as a young US Marine Sergeant.

After that, he was cast in three episodes of the e.tv soapie Rhythm City as Chris, a court appointed manager for a business that filed for bankruptcy.

He later had a guest role in the kykNET comedy series Hotel, appearing in Season 1, Episode 13 (the season finale, which aired on 3 October, 2016.

In 2017 he landed his first starring role in television in the kykNET comedy series Phil 101.
