Nomalanga Shozi is a South African actress and radio DJ best known for her role as Nomalanga, the daughter of a mining magnate and struggle veteran who gets engaged to Zolani, in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.
She won her role on the show after an online casting call in April 2016. It was her first credited screen acting role.
Originally from Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal, she matriculated from Marburg Secondary School in 2012. She did media studies at Rosebank College in Durban, from 2014-2016.
In May 2015 she joined the Durban-based radio station Gagasi FM, where she initiall co-hosted the Hip-Hop Gagasi Music Sessions on Thursdays between 20h00 and 22h00. She also did weekend slots between 01h00 and 04h00 on Saturdays; and 04h00 and 06h00 on Sundays.
Nomalanga's breakout year was 2016, when she beat more than 5,000 other auditionees to the role of Nomalanga on Rhythm City. She was also a featured guest on the SABC3 late night talk show Larger Than Life with Jason Goliath, in an episode that first aired on Tuesday 4 October.
In October 2016 she landed her first presenting job, joining Mbali Nkosi and Thato Molamu as the hosts of the long-running Mzansi Magic entertainment magazine programme All Access Mzansi.
