Marvin Kernelle is a South African opera singer and choirmaster best known as one of the judges on the kykNET reality competition series Varsity Sing. Cape Town-born Kernelle has been performing music since the age of 13. He joined the Cape Town Opera in 2004, where he was groomed and trained in choral music and educated in Cape Town Opera's productions. He attended UCT's Opera School between 2005 and 2007, studying a Performers Diploma in Opera. Joining the Cape Town Opera Chorus in 2008, Kernelle sung in multiple productions on stages in both South Africa and internationally. In 2014 he took over as the Cape Town Opera's Chorus Master.
