Roland Reed is a South African actor best known for his recurring role as Dufresne, the ship's accountant and later Quartermaster for the Walrus, in the period drama action-adventure television series Black Sails.
He matriculated from Hoërskool Waterkloof in 2009 and studied acting at AFDA film school from 2010-2012.
In 2011 he starred in his first commercial for Samsung and later that year appeared in the Golden Globe-nominated film The Girl, as the focus puller.
In 2013 he played starred as Japie in the romantic drama film Die Windpomp (The Windmill), written and directed by Etienne Fourie.
In 2015 he replaced Jannes Eiselen in the role of Dufresne on the Starz drama Black Sails, after Eiselen was forced to retire the role due to a diagnosis of brain cancer. It was his first credited television role.
