Bio

Maia Mitchell is an Australian actress and singer best known for her starring role as Callie, an offbeat, beautiful teen who has spent her life in the foster care system and is slow to accept her new surroundings when she moves in with the Fosters on a temporary basis, in the teen drama television series The Fosters.

Mitchell can be seen starring as modern day surf girl McKenzie (Mack) in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Teen Beach Movie, where she discovers the importance of believing in herself and following her true destiny when she is magically transported into a popular classic teen beach movie and must find her way back home.

Mitchell grew up in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia and enrolled in comprehensive dance lessons at an early age. Growing up in the country town far from any major cities, she found an outlet for acting by performing in school and local theatre productions.

At age 12, she auditioned for the Australian television series Mortified and landed the lead role of Brittany Flune. The series broke numerous Australian Children's Television records and won many national and international awards, including an Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award for Best Children's Television Series and a Chicago International Children's Film Festival Award.

Mitchell was next cast as Natasha Hamilton in the Australian television series Trapped, and later reprised her role in the sequel series, Castaway.

She later guest starred in the hit Disney Channel series Jessie and can also be seen in John Huddles' feature film, The Philosophers, as high school student Beatrice.

She currently calls home Los Angeles. In her free time she loves traveling and songwriting.
