Bio

Bruce McGill is an American actor best known for his recurring role as the title character's comical best friend Jack Dalton in the television action series MacGyver, from 1986-1992.

He currently stars as Detective Vince Korsak in the police procedural television series Rizzoli & Isles, since 2010.

Since driving his motorcycle up the Delta House stairs as D-Day in National Lampoon's Animal House, McGill has been a constant and memorable screen presence. Throughout his career, he consistently receives rave reviews for his stand-out performances, and shows no signs of slowing down.

He was recently seen onscreen in Law Abiding Citizen, with Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler; Oliver Stone's W; and Sony Picture's Obsessed, starring Beyoncé.

McGill has appeared in more than 100 movies to date, including Vantage Point, Runaway Jury, Matchstick Men and Cinderella Man. His appearance as southern attorney Ron Motley in Michael Mann's The Insider garnered high praise from critics and audiences alike.

Other film work includes The Legend of Bagger Vance, My Cousin Vinny, The Sum of All Fears, The Last Boy Scout, Shallow Hal, Silkwood, Exit Wounds and Legally Blonde 2: Red, Hot and Blonde.

McGill's list of television credits is equally impressive, as he has starred in some of HBO's most critically acclaimed productions; portraying controversial journalist Peter Arnet in Live From Baghdad, painting a chilling portrait of LBJ cabinet member George Ball in Path to War and accurately recreating legendary Yankees manager Ralph Houk in 61*.

He has made memorable guest appearances on Law & Order, CSI, The Practice, Gideon's Crossing, Home Improvement, Star Trek: Voyager, The Commish, Quantum Leap and Miami Vice, among others.

He may be best known for his work on MacGyver as Jack Dalton, MacGyver's troublemaking best friend, whom he played for six seasons.

Originally from San Antonio, McGill began his acting career on stage in elementary school. After earning his bachelor's degree in acting from the University of Texas at Austin, he made his professional debut as a member of Rhode Island's Trinity Square Repertory Company.

In New York City, he began a long association with the New York Shakespeare Festival (NYSF), appearing in Hamlet (produced by the legendary Joseph Papp) and Henry V, and playing Iago opposite Raul Julia's Othello, all for the NYSF's Shakespeare in the Park series.

He also starred on Broadway in My One and Only, with Tommy Tune and Twiggy. In 2008, he returned to the stage (after 22 years) with an acclaimed portrayal of Orson Welles in Orson's Shadow at the Pasadena Playhouse.

McGill currently lives with his wife outside Los Angeles, where he indulges in his passion for golfing, sailing and playing music whenever possible.
