Andrew Thompson (died 9 March, 2012) was a South African actor who appeared in numerous television series including Generations, Hart van Staal, 7de Laan, Binnelanders and Hartland.
He also acted in the feature films Bakgat! and Bakgat! 2, Poena is Koning, Ordinary Lives, Molly en Wors, Superhelde and Roepman, among others.
Andrew graduated from Hoërskool Linden in 2004 and attended seven years of drama classes at Louise van Niekerk. He later studied a B.A. Drama at TUT, in 2006.
Since then he has acted in a number of theatre productions including Waterman, Samoerai and Skrapnel, all of which had runs at the Aardklop Theatre Festival.
He has appeared in commercials for VUKA and Nashua Printers and has done vioceover work for Mindset Learn, the Department of Housing and Dtv, among others.
Andrew also acted in the mobi-soap Seduction 101, in 2008.
In 2012 he was nominated for a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) in the category Best Supporting Actor in a Feature Film for his role as Hein in the film Roepman.
He committed suicide on Friday 9 March, 2012. His body was found by a friend in his flat in Cresta, Randburg.
