Bio

Elné Pretorius is a South African actress, musician and singer/songwriter best known for her starring role as Katherine Harkness in the SABC1 science fiction television series Room 9, from 2012-2013.

She is also known for her starring role as Elisabeth Cilliers in the kykNET drama series Hartland, in 2011. It was her debut as a television actress.

Elné graduated from Hoërskool Linden in 2010. She made her theatre debut at the Aardklop National Arts Festival in 2011 when she played the part of Suzzi in Deon Opperman's stage drama Aantrekkingskrag, acting alongside Franci Swanepoel, Johan Scholtz, André Odendaal and Hanlie Rolfes.

In early 2009, a 16-year-old Elné made her musical debut on 5fm's live to the power of 5fm alongside Contradicting Clouds, an alternative rock group in which she is the vocalist, pianist and songwriter. This group launched an independent release and was featured on 5fm, UJfm and MK.

The groups' first music video, Sophistry, was produced in the United Kingdom and aired on DStv, showcasing Elné's performance, composition and writing skills.

At the end of her matric year, Elné was awarded the De Villiers/De Vos trophy for best musical qualification as well as the Michael de Kock trophy for best vocals.

Her studies include B.A. Information Design at the University of Pretoria and training at the Performing Arts and Lifestyle Institute.

Other roles include playing the part of Maria Grekova at the Krêkvars Arts Festival in Ysterspoor – a translation of Anton Chekov's Platonov by Schalck Schoombie - as well as an appearance in the Afrikaans film Lien se Lankstaanskoene as Sally, in 2012.
