Bio
Zach Galifianakis is an American comedian and actor best known for numerous film and television appearances including his own Comedy Central Presents special.
He also starred as Ray Hueston in the HBO comedy series Bored to Death, from 2009-2011.
After failing his last college course by one point at North Carolina State University, Galifianakis moved to New York City. He got his start performing his brand of humour in the back of a hamburger joint in Times Square, graduating to doing stand-up at night in clubs and coffee houses in the city.
While working as a bus boy, he got his first acting job on a sitcom called Boston Common for NBC. An eclectic career has followed. He has been seen as a guest and performing on a number of late night talk shows including Letterman, Conan and Jimmy Kimmel.
Galifianakis broke out across America and the world in this summer's blockbuster hit The Hangover. From director Todd Phillips and Warner Bros., The Hangover became the quickest and highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time.
He also appeared in several independent features including Little Fish Strange Pond, Rogues Gallery and Youth in Revolt opposite Michael Cera, Steve Buscemi and Ray Liotta.
He was also seen in G-Force for Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney Studios and in the Fox feature What Happens in Vegas opposite Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher, as well as the critically acclaimed Into The Wild from Paramount Vantage and director Sean Penn.
His other films include Visioneers, Heartbreakers, Bubble Boy, Below, Corky Romano, Out Cold and the documentary The Comedians of Comedy.
He was a series regular playing Davis on Tru Calling for Fox and hosted his own critically acclaimed talk show for VH1 entitled Late World with Zach, as well as writing and starring in Dog Bites Man for Comedy Central.
He has appeared in numerous other shows including The Sarah Silverman Show and Reno 911!.
When not filming, Zach travels the country doing stand up in rock clubs, coffee houses and universities. He lives in Venice Beach, California and also spends part of his time on his farm in the mountains of North Carolina.
