Desiré Gardner (née Manthey) is a South African actress best known for her role as nurse Daleen Oosthuizen in the M-Net soapie Binnelanders, from 2008-2015.
Desiré was born in Bethlehem and started her school career in Bloemfontein. In 2003 she matriculated at Hoërskool Noordheuwel in Johannesburg.
In 2006 she completed her BA degree in Drama at the University of Pretoria. In 2004 she also became part of the Golden Key Group, an association that recruites the top 15% students at universities.
In 2007 she received her certificate in Film training at Starstruck School of Acting.
After university, Desiré started working at a company in which she performed puppet shows at preprimary schools and children's parties. In June 2007 she acted as Fly the sheepdog in Babe at the People's Theatre.
After that, she performed in Usindiso (by TUNC productions), as well as Hardloop Dominee at the Breytenbach Theatre.
In 2008, Desiré played the part of Ansie in 7de Laan, after which she performed in the production Parys Suite.
In April 2008 she made her first appearance in Binnelanders as nurse Daleen. She left the production in December 2015 and soon took up a recurring role on the kykNET soapie Suidooster. Her character was promoted to series regular for the start of Season 3 (April 2017).
