Bio

René Fris (born 1973) is a Danish hairstylist and television personality best known for his eponymous line of hair products and hair salons in New York City and Copenhagen.

Born and raised in Denmark, Fris started his hair career in 1992. His work behind the scenes in TV and film quickly gave him a high-style reputation for hair cutting, colouring and grooming which has taken him around the world.

Conquering the world of hair abroad, Fris decided to sell his salon in Denmark to follow the "American Dream" by moving to NYC in 1999 where he quickly became one of New York's most sought after stylists.

Since then Fris' accolades have included: Head Stylist at Elizabeth Arden's Red Door Salon at Saks 5th Avenue, Celebrity Stylist for John Frieda Salons, Grooming Specialist on the TV series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy in Europe, author of two best selling men's and women's grooming books, owner of an internationally acclaimed product line bearing his name, and a successful modeling career with the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency.

He has shaped the careers of hundreds of stylists, and the list of celebrities and models that have passed through his doors is endless.

From the Red Door Salon and Spa René went on to be a celebrity stylist for John Frieda salons in New York City. From there, René was selected to be a part of Fab Five in Europe.

The success of the show garnered multiple seasons and more opportunities. René has written two best selling books, a 'his' and 'hers' covering grooming and overall body care.

He has been a Tim Gunn-style mentor to the contestants of the reality competition series Shear Genius since the show premiered in 2007.
