From Qhawekazi's Miss South Africa profile:

She's from Gonubie, East London, (now living in Sundowner, Randburg) and holds a Speech, Language and Hearing Therapy degree from Stellenbosch University.

She's currently doing Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology through the University of Pretoria with a focus on Autism.

Making a difference in her community is important and her biggest contribution has been through her therapeutic work in "bridging cultural and linguistic gaps in speech therapy and being informed of our political, economic and social worlds."

Qhawekazi on her win:

Qhawekazi: "Leadership involves responsibility. I want to be an ambassador with deep purpose and a voice that reflects this country.

I intend to take Empower Youth Africa (EYA) very seriously during the coming year of my reign and ensure that everything I and my fellow finalists do, is anchored in impact and can be measured when I hand over."

What is EYA?

A new initiative launched by the Miss South Africa organisation that focuses on women and youth, specifically:

- Youth Unemployment,

- Entrepreneurship and Skills Development,

- Access to Education,

- Health and Wellness,

- Civic Engagement and Pan-African Collaboration.
