From the reality low of Idols, comes a new talk show/filmed podcast. Randall Abrahams hosts Both Sides on eNCA from Sunday 24 August at 12h00. Described as "a salon for heavyweight political figures, cultural disruptors, entertainment icons and the fascinating in-betweeners we never quite pin down." His first guest: Helen Zille.

The teaser for Episode 1:

The debut episode features Helen Zille, Federal Chair of the Democratic Alliance, who confronts South Africa’s policing crisis and argues for a credible commission of inquiry, before unpacking the constitutional limits of ministerial authority.

She then turns to Johannesburg - South Africa’s financial capital - now in full-blown municipal crisis. Zille outlines what she calls a coherent plan to rescue the city: stabilise essential services, rebuild the rates base, and restore execution capacity.

She also signals her intention to run for Mayor of Johannesburg, pending party approval.

She revisits her path from school-governance activism to provincial leadership, frames sustained economic growth as the only durable way to address historic injustice and weighs the promise and peril of AI.

She warns that unless South Africa closes the digital divide, inequality will deepen as the nation moves toward an altered 2029 political landscape.
