We've asked Telemundo if there's a third season of Cacau and what's happening with Ana's Revenge 2. This is their reply: "We currently do not have any information around a third season of Cacau and an upcoming second series of Ana’s Revenge airing on Telemundo. However, we will let you know if anything changes."

The "Popular TV Shows Today" feature on DStv Stream's been destroyed since the Canal+ takeover. It isn't on the homepage anymore - it's hidden away in the Search section and there are only four rando titles in it. It used to have meaning - we enjoyed following the Top 10 list daily - it gave a real sense of how viewers were engaging with shows but it's meaningless now. Very UNcool.

New season of Discovery Channel's Naked and Afraid to be an All Stars nudie reality low with previous players "from round the world". Subtitled: Global Showdown. Except it's NOT. It's happening in Zululand but there isn't a single South African amongst them. Seven teams and only three aren't American - from Mexico, Brazil and Australia. Premieres in May 2026 in the US. Local premiere date still loading.

First it was 1Magic and Showmax sloppy seconds and now it's even worse. Mzansi Magic viewers are getting Wethu repeats during primetime. Ama SABC vibes! Homecoming starts a run on Mzansi Magic on Monday 30 March at 21h00, once Red Ink ends. Two episodes a night.

First it was the World Darts Championship, then the Philly's games football and now the Winter Olympics are gone on SuperSport too. They've been yanked by MultiChoice a.k.a Canal+. The slippery downward slope continues. South Africa has a team of five in the cool runnings - the most we've had. >>

Yet another loss for DStv subscribers :(. House of Zwide, Isitha and Smoke & Mirrors disappeared from Catch Up on 1 January 2026. The only e.tv survivor: Scandal!'s still available. We've asked both MultiChoice and eMedia what's going on and all we've heard is... *crickets*... silence.

DStv attempts to upsell subscribers to higher packages by giving viewers more or fewer votes for Big Brother Mzansi's housemate vote-in. Premium gets more votes, Compact less etc. It gets a loud "urgh!" from us. We've been wanting all packages to be consolidated into one - with SuperSport as an add-on - in the wake of the Canal+ takeover.

MultiChoice pulls coverage of this year's World Darts Championship on SuperSport after covering the popular tournament for the past three years. We assume it's a victim of the Canal+ takeover. Such a nasty loss! Sky Sports produces it and it's brilliantly done - highly entertaining festive viewing. The 2025/26 edition started on Thursday 11 December 2025 and SuperSport tells us it isn't being broadcast.

Will a Showmax or 1Magic sloppy second replace The River on Mzansi Magic once it ends? Nope! It's Mzansi Magic's own sloppy seconds Isibaya. Starts a re-run on Monday 22 September at 18h30. A repeat during primetime. No, just NO.

MultiChoice distances itself from MacG ousting by neither confirming nor denying that his podcasts are off DStv. They're passing the buck to a company called Leading Edge Growth and say they're "responsible for curating the podcast slate," - the same company who told Sunday Times that MacG's off DStv. See comments for MultiChoice's lame response to our query >>

Mzansi Magic airs more sloppy seconds in February. A run of 1Magic telenovela 1802:Love Defies Time replaces Champions on Monday 3 February. Starts with an hour long episode from 18h30 to 19h30 (The River moves to 18h00) and airs at 19h00 from Mondays to Wednesdays thereafter. Mzansi Wethu's Pastor Wants a Wife 3 and Wang'kolota 3 air on Thursdays and Fridays at 19h00. Where did Mzansi Magic go?!

SuperSport eventually gets it together and starts airing the 2024 women's Big Bash cricket tournament - 34 games into it! Too late for us to see South Africa's Lizelle Lee setting a T20 world record by hitting 12 sixes in one game on 10 November. She also set the record for the highest ever individual score in the Big Bash league with 150 runs off 75 balls.

Not-so-SuperSport bangs on about being "Here for Her" but they aren't broadcasting the women's Big Bash cricket tournament currently happening in Australia. It was the first T20 event for women when it began and features players from round the world, including South Africa. If SuperSport were really here for her they'd be showing it! They have in the past.

Mzansi Wethu's announcement about Sibongile & The Dlamini's averaging over 2-million viewers in the past month with a high of 2,688,338 was misleading. It wasn't referring to a "per episode" viewership. Apparently it referred to what happened in one particular week, which is also very confusing. It's currently still under 2-million viewers per episode. We thought the jump from March was unrealistically extreme. We've removed the previous News Short so as to avoid misinformation.

Updated at 19h26 on Friday 1 December: SABC+ available again on domain www.sabc-plus.com after this news from the morning >> SABC+ unavailable on Friday 1 December as SABC migrates it to another technology system. Let's not forget that they rebranded TelkomONE as their "new system" just over a year ago. Now there's another new system apparently. According to the presser, the downtime "should not be more than 48hours." >>

OK, we've had enough of this now. These changes are out of control and wasting time! S3's changing their 19h00 timeslot AGAIN. They've pulled The Estate Rewind until 17 June. The Family Secrets repeat now starts on Monday 25 April at 19h00. Or so they say. We'll only believe when it we see it.
