Coming up on Carte Blanche on Sunday 14 June 2026:

Thirst Trap

Johannesburg is running dry: multibillion-rand maintenance backlogs, collapsing infrastructure, months-long outages.

As residents queue for emergency supplies, a new economy develops: crisis tenders, awarded at short notice and open to manipulation.

Tankers diverted from their intended destinations; neighbours resorting to spy-work; drivers charging for illicit deliveries… All while two companies allegedly profit from a lucrative but questionable contract.

Is an emergency intervention becoming a permanent solution?

And who is cashing in on the crisis?

Producer: Harri Vithi
Presenter: Masa Kekana

My Big Fat Madlanga Commission

It’s been over one hundred days of televised evidence: intrigue, tragedy, even comedy.

The Madlanga Commission is a vast, sprawling investigation; a hunt for truth and accountability in a system hollowed out by crime and corruption. And as it exposes the rot, it’s shaping the country.

Police leadership suspended or arrested. The “Big Five” cartel infiltrating the criminal justice system and shaking it to its foundations.

We take a whistle-stop tour of the main players, the key evidence and the viral moments in a national disaster – a highlights package of high drama and high crimes.

Producer: Kate Barry
Presenter: Govan Whittles

Reforesting the Cederberg

In a remote Western Cape landscape, an iconic tree is facing extinction.

Once, Clanwillian Cedars - some hundreds of years old - covered the rocky slopes of the Cederberg, the spectacular wilderness that bears their name.

But they’ve been decimated by human industry and a changing climate. Now, an environmental group is trying to preserve its future.

They collect and germinate seeds. Hikers carry saplings high into the peaks. Drones drop young trees from the sky.

Carte Blanche meets the passionate locals creating a unique modern solution for an ancient, vanishing species.

Producer: Liz Fish
Presenter: Lourensa Eckard

Premiere episodes of Carte Blanche air on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00 and are on Catch Up afterwards.
