RIP Ronnie Maarman
After more than two years in the role, actor Mario Haupt bids farewell to the character who he's played since the start of the series.
Here are some words from him:
Mario: “I loved that Ronnie wasn’t a one-dimensional man. He was full of contradictions - strong yet fragile, angry yet full of love.
He always wanted to do the right thing but often took the hardest route to get there. I think a lot of people could relate to him.
As an actor, it was wonderful to play him because I got to discover something new about him every day.”
On what he admired most about him:
Mario: “Loyalty. If you were his, he would protect you with everything he had. He loved deeply, even if he sometimes showed it so clumsily that you wanted to shake him.
He put his family above everything, and that sense of responsibility - even when things were tough - was something I really respected.”
And on what he learnt:
Marco: “Not to keep everything to yourself. Ronnie tried to carry it all - the pain, the guilt, the worry - and it was simply too much for one person.
I learned from him that vulnerability isn’t a weakness - it’s actually a form of freedom. And maybe also to listen before you explode.”
