Hang onto your hat for this blast from the past...

Clash of the Choirs has the green light for Season 4 after a seven year break, with one notable difference.

Auditions have only been open to choirs previously but now the show's looking for solo singers too, possibly because of the end of Idols.

There's no clarity as to how the solo singers will compete but we like the idea of solo singers teaming up to create new choirs. Would be cool don't you think?

If you aren't familiar with the concept, the show features amateur choirs from across the country, mentored by celebrity musicians, competing for a cash prize.

Up for grabs this year: R1-million.

The show's reach has also been extended as auditions are happening in all nine provinces for the first time.

You can register for the auditions on Mzansi Magic's website here: Clash of the Choirs application form.

The finer details of the audition dates and venues haven't been confirmed - we presume they'll keep you posted about these once you've registered.

Must knows

All members of the choir and solo performers must be 19-years-old by or on the date of the audition.

Everyone must be a South African citizen or have a valid permit or permanent residence status in South Africa.

Successful candidates will need to be available to film during the periods: September and 10 days in December 2023.

Closing date for applications: Midnight on 15 August 2023.

You'll find the full Ts & Cs by tapping "Terms of Use" on the audition website.

We look forward to hearing you harmoniiiiiiiise.
